Northcote Plaza set
Northcote Plaza is set for a revitalisation, as plans have been submitted to council proposing a redevelopment of part of the site that include a new public site-through link, landscaped community areas, significantly enhanced activation of the Separation Street exchange, pop-up spaces, bike paths, food and beverage tenancies, a residents’ cinema, and more.
The proposed “Northcote Green” redevelopment, spearheaded by local family-owned developer, LAS Group, has been designed to sit in harmony with the existing Northcote Plaza precinct, with the new facilities, amenities and community spaces designed to benefit existing traders with higher projected footfall and dwell times as a result of the revitalisation.
The plans also include the inclusion of a proposed residential and commercial component, to create a bustling mixed-use precinct and town square in the heart of Northcote. Plans have been adjusted to ensure the height of the proposed buildings more appropriately responds to the area.
The proposed redevelopment has been inspired by Northcote’s distinct urban heritage, with world-class architects Fender Katsalidis celebrating the site’s former use as the historic Northcote Brickworks factory, while also paying homage to Northcote’s Federation terrace homes in the design.
