Northcote Plaza set for revitalisation

Northcote Plaza set
for revitalisation

Northcote Plaza is set for a revitalisation, as plans have been submitted to council proposing a redevelopment of part of the site that would add 6,500sqm of green space, multiple outdoor community spaces, green corridors, a cinema, a recreation centre/gym, a community amphitheatre, new dining options, and more.

The proposed “Northcote Green” redevelopment, spearheaded by local family-owned developer, LAS Group, has been designed to sit in harmony with the existing Northcote Plaza precinct, with the new facilities, amenities and community spaces designed to benefit existing traders with higher projected footfall and dwell times as a result of the revitalisation.

The plans also include the inclusion of a proposed residential and commercial component, to create a bustling mixed-use precinct and town square in the heart of Northcote.

The proposed redevelopment has been inspired by Northcote’s distinct urban heritage, with world-class architects Woods Bagot using artisanal local bricks as a nod to the site’s former use as the historic Northcote Brickworks factory, while also paying homage to Northcote’s Federation terrace homes in the design.
